Marine LiFePO4 Battery Range

The correct marine battery depends on the engine, trolling motor, onboard electrical loads, required runtime, charging equipment and available installation space.

Marine Starting Batteries

High-current LiFePO4 battery configurations are available for compatible marine engines after the required CCA or MCA, alternator output and charging system have been confirmed.

  • Verified CCA or MCA configuration for the intended engine
  • High-rate cells selected for starting loads
  • Smart BMS configured for peak starting current
  • Low-temperature protection
  • Custom terminal layout where required
  • Selected water-resistant enclosure options

Deep-Cycle Marine Batteries

Deep-cycle marine LiFePO4 batteries provide consistent energy for trolling motors, fish finders, navigation equipment, lighting, refrigeration, pumps and other onboard electronics.

  • 12V, 24V and 36V configurations
  • Smart BMS protection
  • Bluetooth monitoring on selected batteries
  • Stable voltage during discharge
  • Approved series or parallel options
  • Low-temperature charging protection

Marine House Batteries

House battery systems are configured around daily onboard energy use, inverter power, peak current, required runtime and available charging energy.

  • Lighting and navigation electronics
  • Refrigeration and water pumps
  • Communication equipment
  • Inverter-powered appliances
  • Solar and shore-power charging
  • Bluetooth, CAN or RS485 monitoring options

Dual-Purpose Marine Batteries

Dual-purpose batteries are developed for approved applications that require both engine-starting current and energy for onboard equipment from one battery.

A standard deep-cycle battery should not be used for engine starting unless it has a verified starting-current rating. A starting battery should not power a trolling motor unless it is approved for dual-purpose operation.

Marine Lead-Acid to LiFePO4 Battery Replacement

Marine lead-acid battery banks can often be replaced with LiFePO4 batteries, but the conversion must account for more than voltage and capacity.

Before recommending a replacement battery, we review:

  • Existing battery type and dimensions
  • Starting, deep-cycle or house-power application
  • Required CCA or MCA for engine starting
  • Continuous and peak discharge current
  • Marine charger voltage and charging profile
  • Alternator output and current-control requirements
  • Solar charge controller settings
  • Cable, fuse and isolation requirements
  • Terminal positions and mounting structure
  • Low-temperature charging conditions

A DC-to-DC charger, external alternator regulator or another approved current-control method may be required depending on the vessel’s charging system.

LiFePO4 vs Lead-Acid Marine Batteries

Feature Lead-Acid LiFePO4
Weight Heavier Lower weight for comparable usable energy
Usable Capacity More limited Higher usable percentage on approved systems
Charging Lower charge acceptance Higher charge acceptance within specified limits
Cycle Life Generally shorter Generally longer under specified conditions
Voltage Greater voltage drop during discharge More stable discharge voltage
Monitoring External monitor often required Integrated monitoring available on selected batteries

Actual performance depends on the battery model, operating temperature, charge and discharge rates, charging equipment and permitted depth of discharge.

Marine LiFePO4 Battery FAQ

Can LiFePO4 batteries replace marine lead-acid batteries?

Yes, in many marine systems. Check the system voltage, charging settings, alternator output, required CCA or MCA, BMS current, cables, fuse protection and installation dimensions before replacement.

What is the difference between starting and deep-cycle marine batteries?

Starting batteries deliver short bursts of high current for compatible engines. Deep-cycle batteries provide steady energy for trolling motors and onboard equipment.

Do marine lithium batteries support Bluetooth?

Selected batteries support Bluetooth monitoring for state of charge, voltage, current, temperature and operating status.

Can marine LiFePO4 batteries work with solar panels?

Yes. A compatible solar charge controller with charging settings suitable for the approved LiFePO4 battery specification is required.

Can marine batteries be connected in series or parallel?

Selected deep-cycle batteries support series or parallel connections. The permitted configuration and connection requirements must be confirmed before installation.

Are marine lithium batteries waterproof?

Selected models provide IP-rated protection. The exact rating should be confirmed for the battery model. Installation in a secure and protected battery compartment is still recommended.
