Self-Heating LiFePO4 Battery for Cold-Weather Charging
LiFePO4 cells should not be charged below their permitted temperature range. The integrated heating system raises the cell temperature before charging, making this 12V self-heating lithium battery suitable for RVs, camper vans, cabins and off-grid systems that operate in freezing weather.
When the programmed temperature and charging conditions are met, the battery begins heating before normal charging starts. This process helps protect the cells while reducing the need for separate heating equipment inside the battery compartment.
Heating power: Approximately 100W
Heating activation range: Approximately −20°C to 5°C / −4°F to 41°F
Heating stops: At approximately 10°C / 50°F
Estimated heating time from −10°C: Approximately 70–90 minutes
Estimated heating time from −20°C: Approximately 100–150 minutes
Recommended charger current for charger-powered heating: At least 10A
Heating time varies with ambient temperature, battery temperature, installation conditions, charger output and battery state of charge.
The self-heating system warms the cells before charging begins in low-temperature conditions.
Low-Temperature Charging Protection
Self-heating and low-temperature protection perform different functions. Self-heating raises the cell temperature, while the Smart BMS prevents charging when the cells remain below the safe charging threshold. Together, these functions help protect the battery during winter operation.
Low-temperature charge cut-off: Below approximately 0°C / 32°F
Charge recovery: At approximately 5°C / 41°F or above
Low-temperature discharge cut-off: Below approximately −20°C / −4°F
Charging temperature with heating: Approximately −20°C to 50°C / −4°F to 122°F
Discharging temperature: Approximately −20°C to 60°C / −4°F to 140°F

Questions About This Battery
Can this LiFePO4 battery charge below freezing?
The integrated self-heating system warms the cells before charging when the required temperature and charging conditions are met. The BMS blocks charging if the cells remain below the permitted temperature.
How does the self-heating system work?
When the battery detects a temperature below the programmed charging range, the heating system warms the cells. Charging starts after the cells reach a safe temperature and the required charging conditions are present.
Will it fit a Group 24 battery compartment?
The case follows the Group 24 format, but you should measure the battery compartment and confirm terminal clearance, mounting space and cable routing before ordering.
What information is available through Bluetooth?
Depending on the BMS and application version, available information may include state of charge, voltage, current, power, temperature, cycle count and protection status.
Can these batteries be connected in series or parallel?
The reference configuration supports up to four batteries in series and four in parallel. Confirm the final BMS specification and product manual before building the battery bank.
Can it replace a Group 24 AGM or lead-acid battery?
It can replace selected 12V Group 24 lead-acid batteries after confirming dimensions, charger compatibility, current requirements, terminal layout, cable size and fuse ratings.
Does self-heating operate while the battery is discharging?
Self-heating is intended to prepare the cells for safe low-temperature charging; it is not a general-purpose compartment heater. Operation depends on cell temperature, an available charging source and the confirmed BMS program.
What charger should I use with this heated 12V lithium battery?
Use a LiFePO4-compatible CC/CV charger. The reference charge voltage is 14.4V ± 0.2V, the recommended charge current is 20A, and at least 10A is recommended when charger-powered heating is required.
Is this a starting battery for an RV or boat engine?
No. This model is designed as a deep-cycle house-power and energy-storage battery. Do not use it for engine starting unless ZXBATT has approved the specific application in writing.

Answers about lead-acid replacement, system compatibility, OEM battery development, certifications and wholesale orders.
Can LiFePO4 batteries replace lead-acid batteries?
Many LiFePO4 batteries can replace compatible lead-acid deep-cycle batteries in RVs, boats, golf carts and industrial equipment. Before installation, confirm the system voltage, battery dimensions, terminal layout, charger profile, maximum load, cable size, fuse rating and operating temperature.
Are LiFePO4 batteries compatible with existing chargers and inverters?
Most LiFePO4 batteries are compatible with standard 12V, 24V, 36V or 48V inverters when the system voltage and power requirements match. Many modern chargers also include a LiFePO4 charging profile. For lead-acid replacement projects, confirm the charger voltage, inverter rating and maximum load before installation. A compatible charger or DC-to-DC charger may be required if the existing charging equipment does not support LiFePO4 batteries.
Can you provide custom or OEM LiFePO4 batteries?
Yes. OEM and custom battery support can include voltage, capacity, BMS settings, enclosures, terminals, connectors, communication protocols, labels and packaging. Send us the application, electrical requirements, installation dimensions and expected order quantity for review.
What is the minimum order quantity for wholesale or OEM orders?
MOQ depends on the battery model, specification and customization requirements. Standard models may be available for sample testing, while custom enclosures, private labels and OEM production normally require a confirmed order quantity. Contact us with the model and required quantity for details.
What certifications and battery documents are available?
Available certifications and documents depend on the battery model and destination market. Supporting documents may include UN38.3, MSDS, CE, RoHS and product test reports. Confirm the required documents and target market before placing an order.
What are the production lead time and shipping options?
Lead time depends on the battery model, order quantity, customization and testing requirements. Export shipping options are arranged according to the battery specification, destination and order volume. Send us the required quantity, delivery location and target schedule for a project-specific quotation.
